Timbuktu Academy

With a $200 gift from her mother, Jamilah and her husband Umar Abdul-Raheem started the Timbuktu Academy Located in Trenton, New Jersey, the Academy quickly became known for its impeccable quality of service and early childhood curriculum. Despite being located in one of the highest drug an crime populated areas, children from the inner city of Trenton, as well as suburban families patronized the school.

Timbuk2 Academy

The torch has been passed to the 2nd generation! Timbuktu Academy, operating as Timbuk2 Academy is now under the leadership of Ayana Abdul-Raheem, daughter of the founders. The Academy now has an Early Childhood Division, as well as a Youth Division exclusive to girls and young women; with a specialty in serving system impacted girls.

These inequities are cumbersome and have significant effects on one's self-perception and personal development. A subsidiary of Timbuk2 Academy, bornWORTHY. was birthed with the intent to validate, inspire, empower and affirm our children.
